Watch: Rare Giant Squid Surfaces At A Harbour In Japan

Apart from devastating natural and man made disasters which stunned the world, Japan has also come across as a witness to the spectacular mysteries of nature, some of which have been at the centre of numerous myths.
The giant squid, a creature often depicted as a devastating monsters in books like Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and is also referred to as the Kraken, has been spotted for the third time in seas near Japan.
While the first such sighting of a giant squid was reported in 2004, it was first captured in the wild in 2012. Now another breathtaking video of the humongous but beautiful creature was recorded in Toyama Bay on Christmas eve, The Age reported.
Since the estimates of the size of a giant squid place females at a maximum of 43 ft and males at 33 ft, the one recorded on Thursday was probably a young one at a 12 ft long.
The diver involved in the close encounter with the giant marine creature told CNN, "My curiosity was way bigger than fear, so I jumped into the water and go close to it, this squid was not damaged and looked lively, spurting ink and trying to entangle his tentacles around me."

A colossal giant squid weighing around 770 pounds was dissected in New Zealand in 2014, and it was discovered that it had three hearts. Let's hope we allow the
